Rainy weather didn’t dampen spirits at the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s Ford Series on the weekend of May 28th-29th. The event was held at the Swan-e-set Bay Resort, located in Pitt Meadows, BC. While Saturday’s game was only nine holes because of the weather, sunshine on Sunday allowed for a full game.
West Coast Ford Lincoln and Ford of Canada sponsored a hole-in-one contest. Tree people almost won the competition and could have have driven home a 2016 Ford Focus SE. The games were exciting to watch with close plays for the golfers. Andy Jang took the win for Low Overall, earning him a shortlisted spot in the MJT Team Canada. Leo Harper was the MJT Bantam Boys winner when he took a one-stroke margin over the competition. Another close game was theMJT Junior Boys with Mitchell Thiessen winning by one stroke. It was his first win after several finishes in the top five and three.
Girls’ golf was just as exciting with Victoria Liu taking the MJT Girls 15-19 title. Jennifer Gu took the MJT Girls U15 trophy. Liu also received a shortlisted spot in the MJT Team Canada for the Srixon International Junior Classic, which will be held in Australia. Once all qualifying games have been played, the winners will be announced. West Coast Ford Lincoln is proud of these young athletes and their focus on the game.
