Expect big things from the 25th anniversary of one of the most popular SUVs ever with the 2016 Ford Explorer. It was revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show and showed a major redesign of the model. It is scheduled for release in 2015.
The spacious interior has been a hallmark of the Explorer since its inception in 1991. The new model continues that roominess and seating for seven. The 2016 Ford Explorer also will feature a new engine. Five trim levels make up this model: Explorer, XLT, Limited, Sport and Platinum.
Under the hood of the 2016 Ford Explorer, you can enjoy plenty of power with the addition of the 2.3L EcoBoost® engine. It is expected to carry 270 horsepower with 300 lb-ft of torque for all of your off-road adventures. The Platinum model will also offer a 3.5L V6 engine along with the six-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission. Buyers will also enjoy other special features exclusive to the Platinum such as wood and brushed aluminum accents and a 500-watt Sony stereo system.
